An Interview with Amanda Ronson , The Modern Day Guru
Amanda Ronson, stands tall and statuesque at her kitchen counter thinking hard over the course of her life that brought her to begin the real search for healing. I watch as the phones ring, and the kids come in and out grabbing some food and drink in what looks like a very normal, home for a woman in her forties. She seems not to notice the noise going on around her as her mind works through the milestones, which brought her to her unique path as a healer and spiritual teacher and to develop her world-class "Alchemy Healing Method".
She taps her mug of tea ever so slightly as she begins to recount her journey to me. In her cut off jean shorts, and white t-shirt, she isn’t the yogi-guru-type I expected to meet, but the picture of a grounded, quirky, real and curious human being…and somehow this comforts me. Amanda started to explain her journey “I knew from the age of 12 that there was something more to life than what we see with our eyes….something else.
Growing up in England in the 80’s, there wasn’t a lot out there yet about learning disorders or disabilities and certainly not about consciousness development and where the physical and metaphysical meet. I had a very high intelligence and yet performance was so difficult for me. People didn’t know what it was at that time. And they didn’t know what to do with me. They couldn’t sort out whether I was lazy or rebellious because, in their minds, how could it be that I was so much more intelligent than the average kid my age, but those kids were all getting higher marks than me and performing better in school?
I began to withdraw from all of the negativity and this sense of isolation was deeply painful. I realised at one point that many people out there today are struggling with a myriad of problems and issues that did not get properly dealt with at early ages such as ADHD and this can cause a negative and deep seated influence in their present life and how they interact in their relationships.
We live in a world where we all run around in pain, moving through life trying to understand different issues that we face daily such as: why we can’t find the love of our life, why we react so badly when we are criticised, why we feel such a deep sense of loneliness and fear, and why we cannot find the path that we long for. There are so many questions that go unanswered and many of us simply deal with these difficult feelings, pain, and confusion through putting endless “band-aids” on the problems instead of curing the root of the issue itself.
There is a sense of helplessness in this generation coupled with a longing to know and understand. This generation has so much more knowledge available to them and scientifically, we now know there is more to our minds, and bodies. There is also something called soul, and something called spirit.
Our generation is looking for a more holistic answer, understanding that tackling the issues only from one angle will never solve our deepest problems. We are learning that even our illnesses are connected to our emotional and mental state as the emotional manifests itself in the physical. I too went through my own search from an early age. I wanted to understand the deeper meaning of life and that set me off on a voyage of self-discovery. I needed to know WHY.
This lead to a deep interest in philosophy, anthropology, sociology, ancient civilisations, theology, religion, alternative medicines and energy healing, yet I continued to feel that something was still missing. Understanding that the route to the soul was inward (as this is said in all the major religions of the world), I utilised myself as a guinea pig, and started my journey inward to look for my answers. I spent the greater part of my adulthood immersing myself in all methods, techniques and trainings from around the world to come to a place of holistic application which I now teach.
My teachings and treatment sessions are an integrated system that has developed from all of my studies. My method is practical and can be used to bring spirit into everyday life. You see, I found out, that conventional therapy was the first step on the ladder to real healing, it is in my eyes a very necessary step, but for me it was only half of the way. Conventional therapy let me know WHY I was the way I was and helped me with an important part of the change but not the full change.
I am a firm believer that therapy is an important base as it is the first step of knowledge to be able to perceive oneself and look at oneself on various levels. Therapy in my opinion must go hand in hand with mind, body and soul work. My work looks into people’s spiritual corrections and help them walk along their life path. This is done through awareness work, light work, inter-life, past life work, creative visualisation/imagination work and channeling. I designed the Alchemy healing 10 step program as a journey into personal transformation, healing and wholeness. It is a voyage of discovery to learn about the Real Self that lives underneath layers of our defences, denials and fears.
We all yearn for deeper, more loving relationships, and we all want more physical pleasure, vitality, and abundance, don’t we? Ultimately, we want a sense of purpose for our lives that only comes with intimate contact with soul. It emphasises the importance of recognising, accepting, learning to know and ultimately transforming our Lower Self (our dark side put into the light) of our nature. It is practical spiritual wisdom.
Many of the techniques and concepts that I teach are found separately in all the spiritual traditions of the world. They have been talked about by Jung, and many famous poets, philosophers and religious leaders, however much of their meaning was hidden in religious doctrines and rituals so their relevance was lost to modern humanity.
My workshops don’t require a belief system and do not ask that one abandons their religious practices or beliefs that nurture and support them. I have worked with people with serious emotional problems, traumas, chronic pain, back problems and terminal diseases and I have witnessed some unbelievable results.”
In getting an opportunity to participate in an Alchemy Healing session with Amanda, I recognised in myself that we are all skeptics somehow. We are skeptical about the ability of something to truly come and give us the tools not just to tell us what is wrong with us, but to give us the option of a way out to something more whole. For all the math, science and that which is tangible, there is something in us that understands that there is more to this life and more to who we are than mere flesh and bone.
Amanda presented a bridge for my skepticism to be able to reach another level. I entered nervous and unsure of what kind of “silly spirituality” might be presented to me and left having entered a process that touched everything from my mind and behaviour, to relaxation, to really getting to the root of problems I had faced for years without knowing why.
In this generation, we recognise that all things are complex and require multiple disciplines to solve. And perhaps, this is the new corridor to deal with things in a real, multi disciplined way. Amanda is this generations vision of a guru. A guru who teaches us to be our own guru! Showing us that we can all walk in Spirit, whilst still living with our feet firmly planted on the ground.
